H.H. Sakya Trizin’s Vajraghoshanam to the Buddhist Community of Canada – pages 1 & 2
In July of 1978, His Holiness the 41st Sakya Trizin, Head of the Sakya Order of Tibetan Buddhism, established the Sakya Society of Canada and a ‘Non-Sectarian’ Sakya Teaching centre in Toronto, Canada – which he named Sakya Thubten Namgyal Ling – with Wesley and Angela Knapp, whom He appointed as the resident lamas. He also invited them to New York to receive from Him the ‘Genyen’ Lay Teacher’s Ordination as a Lama Couple in His Sakya Lineage. On that occasion they requested that He compose a brief Letter of Recognition concerning their Root Guru – the Rimay [Non-Sectarian] Vajra Master, Karma Tenzing Dorje Namgyal Rinpoche – in order to eliminate any potentials for future confusion. In response, His Holiness immediately wrote the following letter to the Buddhist Community of Canada, appointing Namgyal Rinpoche as a Spiritual Advisor to the Sakya Society of Canada, in which he affirms his view of the Rinpoche’s qualifications…
